Truett | August 2017

Truett struggled with tolerating food for months before finally being diagnosed with FPIES, and later on, Eosinophilic Colitis. At 19 months old, he is able to safely eat bananas and Neocate Jr. After trying and failing 25+ foods, finding a safe formula for him was a huge relief – until his family was faced with the reality of paying for it all. Specialized formulas are incredibly expensive, and when insurance declined to cover the cost, despite pleas from his doctors and multiple appeals, we were so discouraged.

His mom shares, “Thankfully, we found the Children’s Medical Nutrition Alliance. After all of the frustrations we have experienced dealing with insurance and coordinating care for our son amongst multiple providers, we were stunned by how easy the organization made it to receive help. The cases of formula that we have received through CMNuA have lifted some of the immediate financial burden of feeding our child, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you to everyone who has made it possible for this organization to do what they do!”

Through The Fund, CMNuA was able to send 10 cases of formula to Truett’s family to help ease the expensive cost of medical formulas.
